I review your report with you at the end of the inspection to clear up any questions or concerns you may have. I believe it's critical that you participate in the inspection with me -- after all, this is your hands-on opportunity to learn how the various systems of the home work and about any maintenance recommendations, positive features, and any potential problems your potential home may have. Because your satisfaction is the key, time is not of the essence when I conduct an inspection that will educate you on your future investment.

I purchased my first home in 1977 without the benefit of a home inspection. Home inspections were not well known then and most realtors, if any, ever encouraged their clients to hire an inspector. This may have been attributed to their lack of knowledge about the valuable service a home inspector brought to the table. As a result of my unfamiliarity of the role the home inspector played in a real estate transaction, I purchased a home that turned into an eleven year financial nightmare. The only trades training I was familiar with at that time was Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. I had completed the A/C & R Technician Course offered by a state university in California. Unfortunately, the home did not have A/C.

During the eleven years of ownership in that house, I learned a lot about the various trades involved in the process of home building. I worked for various contractors and sub-contractors part-time while holding down a regular job. I worked in the fields of home improvement, the trades of plumbing, electrical, framing and HVAC installation and service.

After retiring from my regular job within local government, I naturally gravitated to the home inspection field where I worked for a nationally recognized home inspection company located in Maryland. Since my official entry into the home inspection career field, I have accomplished a lot and learned a lot that will be of an enormous benefit to my customers. I am a full certified member of the American Society of Home inspectors. I am a certified Independent Contractor Disaster Housing Inspector for a major FEMA contractor.
